AIDS Discrimintation

aids and poverty

Discrimination takes many forms and people are discrimination against everyday for many different reasons. Being HIV positive or having the AIDS disease can cause a lot of grief for people if it is known that they are victims of this disease. The discrimination for these individuals is everywhere...school, work, and in there everyday life.  While the disease is most harshly felt in Africa and Eastern Europe the discrimination is felt everywhere. People are terribly frightened of this disease even though you can only become infected under specific circumstances of an exchange of bodily fluids (sexual intercourse, sharing needles ect.) people still fear becoming affected.

Though government has taken legislative steps towards reducing discrimination it is still here. Many people associate AIDS with a poor lifestyle. Usually drug use, homosexuality, and promiscuity are the most common judgments made towards infected individuals. This being if it is known to others the someone is suffering from this progressive disease they can have hard time finding a job, receiving medical treatment, or simply making friends.
