American Home Front During WWll: War Bonds

The United States was in great economical hardship. For example, a median income in the United States was about 2,000 a year. And although the American people were facing these hardships, they were urged to buy war bonds. 
War bonds are distributed by the government to help finance the military during war. The American people could feel involved in war efforts, as well as war bonds serve a purpose to control inflation by removing money from circulation.

In order to increase support for the war during World War II, the media and propaganda was greatly used in America. Much like today, the media was used to sway opinions and form hatred against the enemy. Propaganda was also used to help the increase in purchasing war bonds.

Sports, the radio, advertisements, and famous starts helped in the persuasion of purchasing war bonds. More than 85 million Americans (which was half of the population at that time) purchased war bonds. 185.7 billion dollars in war bonds were purchased because of the huge selling efforts to help finance the war.
