In Gaza, Palestinians celebrated a cease-fire and vowed unity. After eight days of intense fighting that lead to the deaths of one hundred sixty two Gazans, people sighed from relief on Wednesday when the agreement was reached in Cairo. In Palestine, "leaders from various factions declared the peace process dead." Hamas declared November 22nd a holiday.
Israel was also relieved by the cease-fire, although their death toll was brought to six. No one is sure how long the cease-fire will last. Israel did feel secure that they had culled the weapons cache of Gaza's armed groups. Discussions will need to continue but, for now, both sides have pledged to stop the violence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to stop short of a ground invasion recently.
