Pancho Villa and the Mexican Revolution


 


Above is a photograph of Pancho Villa.
               

         Pancho Villa was one of the most well known generals in the Mexican Revolution. Villa was born on June 5th 1878 and died on July 10th 1923. He was the general/commander of the division of the north during the Mexican Revolution. Although he was born to poor peasants, he became one of the most powerful leaders in all of Chihuahua. In 1913, Villa was named governor of Chihuahua. Pancho Villa was very powerful and is still remembered today for the power he held throughout Mexico.


Above is a photograph of soldiers patrolling the U.S and Mexican border in the Pursuit for Pancho Villa.

"On March 9, 1916, Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa attacked sleeping citizens and soldiers in the town of Columbus, New Mexico, ending a period of watchful waiting. President Woodrow Wilson ordered Brigadier General John J. Pershing, to lead a "Punitive Expedition" of U.S. troops into Mexico in pursuit of Villa and his band."
